Cutie Mark

Cutie markI have disobeyed a direct order.  I went ahead and made Lil C a cutie mark.  I fear the fallout.

First up she’s very likely to notice that it’s Applejack’s cutie mark.  Not a problem in itself,  Applejack is a favoured pony – but Applejack ain’t a purple pony. Herein lies my problem.  Inaccuracy with Lil C, is inexcusable.

Plus the fact she took time out to clearly explain to me that humans cannot have cutie marks.  I’m not sure I’ll be forgiven.

In my defense, I have an uncontrollable felt addiction. I was cutting out apple patches before I even knew what I was going to do with them. I had to actively search for a purpose for them once I’d started.  Twas a small miracle that I found this old dress-up skirt to sew them to.  And then there’s the fact that it turned out so darn cute! Just look↑

How best to deal with this? Confess my sins to Lil C directly or let her find out on her own? Hmmm.  I don’t think I’ll be seeing her this week. Good luck explaining things, Nanny!

Fairy home improvements

Since Pixie signed her lease agreement she seems to have set to work on making our house her home.

She has shown her taste to be quite eclectic.

Maybe we should have expected the princess tower.  Fairy tales and all that.  But the cupcake was quite out of the blue (^-^) Admirable knowledge of who she’s living with though.

Having removable backdrops for the door keeps all the dotes engaged. Or at least that’s the theory.  Really the fairy thing just got us scarily inspired. Can’t guarantee we’re done here yet (^-^) Also got to plait some Rapunzel hair – can’t say I didn’t enjoy that.

Playing by the rules

When it’s a rainy afternoon and you’ve watched one too many episodes of Scooby-doo, why not break out the playing cards, gather in the troops and play Jack Changes?  It’s what we do when Lil’ D comes to stay, and we aunties quite enjoy the challenge of remembering all the rules and trying to beat the already remarkable skills of a 7 year old!  Perhaps her daddy’s insistence that she learn to play without help will create a master card player…

You will need:

Jack changes

Domo-kun Japanese playing cards

one pack of playing cards- these are ours →

3 players + (it can be played with 2 but it becomes predictable)

Each player is given 7 cards and the rest are placed in the centre of the table, the top card is turned over beside the pile.

The idea is to get rid of all your cards and you can only put down a card if it is the same suit or value.  You must pick up a card if you can’t put one down.  Easy right? Continue reading

Pony Poses

It’s Lil Comedian’s turn to get one of her beloved ponies on the wall.

The photo shoot went fantastically well. Applejack was a true professional, even came prepared with accessories.  Feeling pleased I suggested I could make Lil C her own cutie mark but was shot down in no uncertain terms.  Humans do not have cutie marks. Ouch! Lesson learned.

(But I may have to make her one anyway)

Short but sweet (and chocolatey)

Berry Brownies

Sunday morning brownies: what could be sweeter?

Today’s involve a large handful of dried cranberries, but I’ve made them before with pistachios, peanut butter, milk chocolate, dark chocolate, anything that I can find in the larder (within reason).  The basic recipe comes from the Hummingbird Bakery (again) and no matter how I mess around with it, we always get yummy, gooey brownies.

I doubt any of these will be left for the dotes, but I could be convinced to make more with them!
